| What is PanIIT? |
PanIIT is an umbrella alumni organization of all seven IIT institutes. It was started in the year 2002 by a group of like-minded IIT alumni with key objectives such as:

Since inception, PanIIT Global Alumni conference has been held alternatively in India and abroad and has established itself as a premier event by bringing together en eclectic group of industry visionaries, thought leaders and IIT Alumni from across the globe. Thus PanIIT is not just an annual congregation of IIT Alumni, but has also undertaken and implemented various nation-building projects under this umbrella.

| What are the different projects initiated by PanIIT under its nation-building exercise? |
PanIIT is currently pursuing five nation-building projects:

IITians for ITI provides technical / vocational education by creating institutions similar to the IITs. |

Indo-US collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) seeks to create an Engineering Faculty institute for fostering Curriculum collaboration, R&D, Quality Accreditation and Entrepreneurship Education. |

Parikrma aims to transform the lives of under-served children in one generation by following 360° support to a child – by providing Nutrition, Family Care & Healthcare in addition to Education. |

| What is significance of the PanIIT 2008 conference? |
| The last global conference that was held in India was in 2006 and took place in Mumbai. The former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was the keynote speaker - which was one of the highlights. This year, The PanIIT-2008 event is slated to be held at IIT Madras, Chennai during December 19-21, 2008. |

| What is the theme for this year's conference? |
| The PanIIT Global Conference held in the country has had a specific theme that focuses on nation-building, and several Tracks revolving around the event Theme. This year's theme is 'Inspire, Innovate and Transform' and under this same framework, the PanIIT-2008 event is aiming to deliver high quality content and actionable items to all the stake holders' viz. the IITs, the faculty, the alumni, industry and the society.
The organizing committee have charted various tracks such as: Research & Technology initiatives in Nation-building, Entrepreneurship, Vision & Leadership in Rural Transformation, Challenges & Opportunities in India's Infrastructure, Enhancing Quality & Accessibility in Education and Innovate or Stagnate: India's road ahead which will reflect the overall theme of the event.

| What is PanIIT Alumni India? |
| PanIIT India came into being almost simultaneously as in the US. It is currently registered as a society under the Societies Act and is governed by an Executive Council that comprises of two alumni members from each IIT, nominated by the Directors of the respective IITs. |

| PanIIT is well established globally and has working chapters in the USA, India, Europe, Canada, Australia and Singapore. |

| Who are the key committee members for this year's conference? |
| There are 75 members in the event committee under the chairmanship of Mr.B. Santhanam, to meticulously plan all the details to ensure the success of this PanIIT-2008 event. Some of the key committee members are: Mr. Chand Das, Mr. Deepak Mirza, Mr. J.R.K. Rao, Mr. Sarath Naru, Mr. Ramana Prasad, Mr. SVB Viswanathan, Mr. Raj Varadharajan, Mr. Ramnath Mani, Mr. Raju Venkatraman, K.K. Raman, Mr. K. Ananth Krishnan, Mr. D Chandrasekhar, Mr. Dalton Eddy etc. Several other distinguished members are handling individual committees such as the Marketing & PR Committee, Programme Committee, Organizing Committee, Participation Committee, Sponsorship Committee, IT Infrastructure and Finance Committee.
The PanIIT India Executive Committee members such as Mr. Ashank Desai, Mr.Pradeep Gupta, Mr.P.S. Ramnathan, Mr.Sanjiv Kerkar, Mr. Ashok Kalbag and Mr. Prakesh Khemani are also working very closely with the PanIIT-2008 event committee to provide the required guidance and continuity. PanIIT-USA is also providing active support on several fronts to make the event happen.
