AIDI and PanIIT are pleased to announce 60 days to Transform India, a design competition, as a run up to the conference. The theme of both the conference and competition is
Innovate with what you know – which means we are not only looking for blue-sky anything-goes sort of entries, but ones that have constructive thought and look achievable in the foreseeable future.
Inspire new Narratives – Our lives are driven by stories. Some stories are more powerful than the others and these are the ones that bind communities and customers together. An entry has to have a compelling story
Transform India – Participants should understand that designs and design solutions should be in a context of a changing India, and the designs should be transformed in a positive way.
The purpose of the AIDI-Pan-IIT Design awards is to:
- Expand national understanding of design as an essential resource for solving the problems around us and envisioning new prosperous futures
- Introduce innovative ideas to business that can take these ideas towards conclusion
- Demonstrate how investment in design potentially impacts overall business success
- Highlight the critical role of design in enhancing quality of life in India

Categories
Designs for practically anything may be entered so long as the solution fits into the theme of the competition. If an entry doesn't fit into the category selected it will be re-categorized by Pan-IIT-AIDI. Categories represent 'Contexts' and we do not distinguish between 'product' and 'service' ideas as the boundaries are blurring between the two.
Work and Productivity
Computing devices, Office equipment and systems, Business environments and systems, Service ideas for Professional Business
Home
Domestic Appliances, Consumer electronics, consumer goods for the home, Kitchen, Garden, Cutlery & Kitchenware, Residential Furniture & Lighting, Fixtures & Hardware, Professional services for the home.
Infrastructure
Building Equipment & Systems, Fixtures & Lighting , Construction & Industrial Vehicles, Public Services and Amenities. E.g. device ideas for utilities personnel, a 5 minute to solve the country's housing problems, but an energy conservation device for the home would come under 'home'.
Healthcare
Ideas for Clinical & Diagnostic Products, Industrial & Scientific Products, Surgical & Therapeutic Products, Home-Care & Self-Care Products, Healthcare services.
Personal and Leisure
Personal media players, personal care product ideas, Apparel, Backpacks, Eyeglasses, Footwear, Handbags, Hats & Helmets, Watches, other personal products and service ideas for individuals.

- The ideas must not be scheduled for production or implementation at the time of entry, for at least three months from the date of entry (This and the clause above ensure that ideas are judged for their own potential.
